Twenty years feeding Minneapolis.
Now she paints.
Oil paintings by Kristin Tyborski, a chef who ran the line at the Dakota Jazz Club and The Lynhall and now works from a studio in south Minneapolis.
Paintings
Oil on canvas. Titles and sizes are still being catalogued; the color dots under each painting are sampled from the canvas itself.
About Kristin
Kristin Tyborski has spent twenty years moving between the front of the house and the back of the kitchen — and, increasingly, the studio. She trained in Argentina, then built her career in Minneapolis under Tim McKee at Solera, Steven Brown at Porter & Frye, and Jamie Malone at Sea Change.
In 2011 she stepped up as co-executive chef of the Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant, sharing the line with Derik Moran and writing menus to match Minneapolis' best jazz room. Several years later she helped open The Lynhall on Lyndale Avenue — first as a consultant, then as general manager, then as both general manager and chef of the bakery, restaurant, food incubator, and television kitchen rolled into one.
The paintings come from the same place as the cooking: an interest in how warmth, color, and a particular room land on a stranger.
